Primarily, the new notifications settings enable users to restrict notifications to select people. Like the ones they follow on Twitter’s mobile and desktop website. By tweaking these settings, you would see interaction from the profiles you follow back. Thankfully, this will declutter the notifications tab. A significant relief for the users who get a lot of notifications. Also, with this new update, the notifications settings menu has become more accessible. The website is also adding a smart link to the page, which takes users directly to the notifications tab.
— Twitter Support (@TwitterSupport) August 18, 2016 Interestingly, Twitter is adding a new feature – quality filter setting. Select users have been using the quality filter settings for a while, but it will now be available for all the users. On its blog, Twitter explains that the quality filter setting is dedicated to improving the quality of tweets. When turned on, the quality filter would enhance the tweet quality by factors like account origin and operation. It would clear the low-quality content from notifications and other tabs. Besides, the social media website also says that the quality control setting would spare the accounts you follow back or have recently interacted. The quality control filter separates the lower-quality content such as duplicate Tweets or automated content. The low-quality will not appear under your notifications other parts categories on Twitter. With the new filter, Twitter expects to improve the user experience. The filter can be turned on and off as per users’ whims and fancies. You just have to head to your Twitter’s notification settings menu and disable the filter. For all those who hate changes, Twitter says that these new features are purely opt-in. If you don’t want to tweak your account, you’ve just got to ignore these new features, and your user account would stay unaffected. It also revealed that with the changing times, there are plans to improve these features further and does giving a better control to users. Twitter for iOS is up for a free download on the App Store.
