Beyond Good And Evil 2 Still in Development?
It was stated a month ago that external playtesting was in its early stages for Beyond Good And Evil 2. Two sources even provided screenshots as well as video evidence of the game provided that the images and footage not be made available to the public eye. A view of the footage made it pretty clear that the game is far more incomplete than the footage shared by Ubisoft back in December of 2018. This suggests that the game probably went back to the drawing board since the earlier gameplay was revealed by Ubisoft. It’s pretty much understood that you can create your very own character in Beyond Good and Evil 2 and use presets to design a player to your liking. We got to see a personalized character that looked like a shark, and the other was a Panda. These characters featured various character customization options along with cosmetic additions. Sources stated that the game still feels incomplete, years away, and lacks well-needed direction, while another source stated that they had no idea what they were doing while playtesting Beyond Good and Evil 2. A lot of the criticism makes sense. Sarah Arellano recently issued a statement that she’s the lead writer for Beyond Good and Evil 2. What does this entail exactly? Well, this means the game still has a story to be written, and the game’s story is unfortunately incomplete. Arellano had previously worked as the Narrative Designer for Blizzard’s hit IP, World of Warcraft. Taking a glance at the footage and gameplay, it’s pretty evident that Beyond Good and Evil is a good few years away before it finally sees the light of the day. But if you think about it, it’s not that long since you’ve probably been waiting for over 15 years now. Ubisoft is scheduled for a showcase event later in September, but it’s still not apparent if this event will feature glimpses of Beyond Good and Evil 2 or if we’ll get to see it later in the future either. Recent playtests do entail that the team might be gearing up for a reveal of some sort, but there are no official comments or even rumors, for that matter. The first installment of the Beyond Good and Evil franchise received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and players alike. One of the well-received features of the game was the graphics, and it’s possible that the team felt as if the game was limited by the hardware limitations of that time. Despite the positive reviews, the game wasn’t a commercial success like everyone hoped it would be, but it still went on to receive many nominations and numerous game awards. Ubisoft is the source of high expectations from many patient fans to deliver a worthy successor to Beyond Good and Evil. We’ll have to wait a couple of more years before it’s done baking it in the oven. We might get to see the studio deliver a stellar Beyond Good and Evil 2 years into the future. We’ll just have to wait. Only time will tell. And that’s pretty much it for today’s news. Will Ubisoft give us an impressive Beyond Good and Evil Sequel, or will it disappoint fans?
